Yes, I See Male Clients Too

Let me be upfront about something. Firm and Flourish is a woman-centered practice. Most of my clients are women, and the feel of the space and the community I've built around this work reflects that. If you've landed here as a guy and you're wondering whether this is a space for you, the answer is yes.

Men are a smaller share of my clientele, but they are absolutely part of this practice. The work I do, which includes manual lymphatic drainage, buccal massage, and TMJ therapy, is work that men benefit from just as much as women, and in some cases more.

Here's what that looks like.

TMJ and jaw tension don't discriminate

Some of the most severe TMJ cases I see are in men. Years of stress, clenching, grinding, heavy chewing, contact sports, and dental work can lock the jaw muscles up tight. Intraoral buccal work and external TMJ release is some of the most relief-producing bodywork I do, and it is not gendered. If your jaw hurts when you wake up, if you catch yourself clenching at your desk, if your dentist has mentioned a night guard, this is work for you.

Lymphatic drainage is for bodies, not genders

Manual lymphatic drainage supports the lymph system, including circulation, inflammation, immune function, and recovery. It is indicated after surgery of any kind (orthopedic, hernia repair, cosmetic procedures, anything that leaves you swollen). It supports athletes managing training load and inflammation. It helps with chronic swelling, sluggish lymph flow, and post-illness recovery. Men need all of that. I regularly see guys recovering from knee or shoulder surgery, working through a stubborn post-viral puffiness, or just needing their body to move fluid again.

Buccal massage isn't just a beauty treatment

A lot of what's online about buccal massage frames it as facial sculpting. That is a real application, but it is not the only one. Buccal work releases the masseter, pterygoid, and temporalis, which are muscles that hold stress and clenching patterns. Men with TMJ, chronic headaches, ear pain, or jaw dysfunction get real therapeutic benefit. It is not cosmetic work. It is deep muscular work that happens to be done inside the mouth.

How men usually find me

A lot of my male clients are referred in by their partners. A woman comes in for a session, loves the work, and sends her husband, her boyfriend, her brother, her dad. Others come in because a dentist has mentioned buccal massage for TMJ, or a physical therapist has suggested MLD after surgery. That pathway is completely normal, and I see it all the time.

Many of my male clients are also first responders, veterans, healthcare workers, social workers, and others who qualify for the Roots Program, which offers 15% off any service or membership.

What to expect if you book

The practice is home-based in Kinnelon, and the treatment space is calm, private, and professional. Draping and consent are standard. You will always be covered and comfortable, and any intraoral work is fully explained and consented to before we begin. Sessions start with a quick intake, covering where you hold tension, what your goals are, and anything recent medically. From there, the session is about you.

If you have never done this kind of work before and you are a little uncertain, that is normal. Most of my male and female clients alike come in with some version of "I've never done this before" and leave asking when they can come back.

An invitation

If you are a guy reading this and you have been told you should try lymphatic drainage, or your dentist has mentioned TMJ work, or you are recovering from surgery, or your jaw just hurts all the time, you are welcome here. The practice is woman-centered in its feel and community, but the work is for anyone who needs it.

Book a session through the website, or reach out first if you have questions. I'm happy to answer them.
